Home Controls, Inc. is one of the nation's largest distributors of home automation and networking products. I am responsible for creating all marketing materials, including a comprehensive catalog. Marketing Manager January 2008 - present Home Controls was a client of Venture Creative VENTURE CREATIVE, INC. I free-lanced under the incorporated name of Venture Creative Inc. I specialized in publication design, layout and production. (Venture Creative closed in January 2008.) Creative Director June, 2003 - January 2008 BUZZ PUBLICATIONS Buzz published several magazines and directories. Among my duties, I am responsible for the content and design of their flagship edition, Buzz Magazine, a bi-weekly entertainment magazine. (Buzz Publications was sold in March 2005.) Creative Director & Magazine Editor February 2000 - March 2005 Buzz Publications was a client of Venture Creative SOMC GROUP, INC. SOMC Group, Inc. published Bright Ideas, a monthly design magazine with an international circulation. I was originally on staff as a designer and writer, and returned as the publication's editor. (Bright Ideas closed in February 2000.) Magazine Editor February 1999 - February 2000 Senior Designer and Writer September 1991 - August 1997 PAPERS, INC. Papers, Inc. published Condo Management, a monthly homeowner association magazine circulated in Southern California, Florida and New England. (Papers, Inc. closed in November 2007.) Design and Production Manager August 1997 - November 2007 Papers, Inc. was a client of Venture Creative PIONEER NEWSPAPER Pioneer was the first independent newspaper at California State University, San Marcos. I was the co-founder and co-owner of the bi-weekly publication. (The business closed in 1992.) Creative Director August 1989 - March 1992 A&M VISTA A&M Vista published the daily Vista Press, and weekly San Marcos Courier, Mobile Homes Courier and The 'Ridge newspapers. (A&M closed in 1995 after more than 65 years of publishing.) Copy Editor and Production Artist August 1989 - September 1991 { awards }.
